Head Start Aligns with New 5-year Grant Cycle
In previous program cycles, grantees operated under an indefinite grant period with an intensive review every three years to oversee compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards. Now, the Office of Head Start is transitioning to a five-year grant cycle and implementing content-focused review events, which are carried out over the first three years of a grant.
The reports provided after each review event includes valuable information for grantees about how to continuously improve their programs and services. In addition, the report data is used to evaluate whether or not a grantee will need to re-compete their program at the end of their five-year grant cycle.
The new Aligned Monitoring System helps OHS and grantees look beyond basic compliance and focus more on the quality of the programs..
